Next year, Brazil will not only host the World Cup but it will also welcome
a new French fusion restaurant manned by two of the world's
best chefs: Alain Ducasse and Alex Atala.
In an interview with Vogue Brazil, Ducasse revealed he and Atala,
Brazil's most famous chef, have already begun collaborating on the
restaurant that will open in Rio de Janeiro next January.
"I hope the project goes well because Brazil is an amazing country and I love Brazilians,"
the chef told Vogue, adding that the restaurant will feature Brazilian ingredients with a French touch.
Ducasse, whose legendary career is studded with three Michelin stars, has chosen his partner wisely.
Atala, who trained in Europe and is known for his devotion to Amazonian ingredients, serves a blend of
Brazilian ingredients and European flavors at his restaurant D.O.M. in Sao Paolo.
D.O.M. is considered among the top 10 restaurants in the world,
and was recently named the best restaurant in South America at
The World's 50 Best Restaurant awards
sponsored by
S.Pellegrino
and Acqua Panna.
Ducasse has opened more than two dozen restaurants worldwide including the acclaimed Louis XV in Monaco.
Earlier this year the chef was the recipient of the
Lifetime Achievement Award
presented during the World's 50 Best Restaurant awards celebrated in London.
So far, the restaurant's name has not been divulged.
